Looking back on a strong 2024 of commercial traction and industry recognition

With 2025 now in full swing, we’re reflecting on a significant 2024 for BOW. From launching our universal robotics software platform to announcing several strategic partnerships delivering innovative robotics solutions to new industries, our mission to reshape robotics is just getting started.

Here is our Year in Review for 2024.

Hannover Messe Launch

We launched the BOW platform at Hannover Messe last April with our OEM partners InMotion Robotic and Sarcomere Dynamics, marking a significant step in demonstrating the platform’s potential to the industry at large. At the show, we illustrated BOW’s capability to develop a fully autonomous robot within just a week by building a driver for a new robot at our exhibit, serving as the bridge between the robot and the demo application, facilitating seamless communication and control.

OEM Partnerships

Throughout 2024, we forged OEM partnerships with InMotion Robotic, Compsoft Creative and Sarcomere Dynamics, which have allowed us to enhance BOW’s capability in serving industrial and IoT applications. In particular, our partnership with Compsoft Creative has enabled us to extend our services across multiple verticals, focusing on interactive exhibits and accelerated IoT robotics and AI integration. Watch the video below to learn more about our partnership with Compsoft Creative so far, including our participation at the Manufacturing Technology Centre’s event: Robotics and Automation: For a Sustainable Future last May.

XPLOR Partnership

Showing the versatility of BOW’s platform, we signed a partnership with XPLOR, the world’s first research, development, and innovation centre dedicated to the creative industries – particularly film, television production and live events.

The partnership is pioneering the adoption of robotics in the film and creative industries, focusing on developing new applications, improving efficiency and lowering production costs. BOW has been implemented into several research and development projects at XPLOR, including programming robotic arms for live-action shooting in challenging environments and developing automated tracking solutions.

Leadership Expansion

There were a number of exciting additions to our leadership team in 2024, with the appointments of Nick Thompson as CEO and Eleanor Tang-Smith as COO. Rounding out the year, we announced the appointment in November of Liz Upton, Co-Founder of Raspberry Pi, as Chair of the Board. Liz brings a wealth of experience in scaling transformational technology globally, coupled with a deep commitment to innovation.

Participation in Innovate UK and UK-Germany Tech Accelerator

BOW also contributed to the UK Government’s national robotics strategy, as part of part of the Robotics Proving Ground programme with Innovate UK, helping validate and showcase our technology to industry partners and furthering the growth of the industry across the UK.

But that’s not all. The global potential of BOW’s platform was recognised as we were chosen for the inaugural UK-Germany Tech Accelerator, a seven-month program designed to support BOW with introductions to VCs, OEMs, and a fully funded office space in Stuttgart.

Industry Awards and Recognition

BOW received numerous industry accolades last year, a testament to our commitment to partnerships and the transformation and democratisation of robotics. Firstly, our work with Sarcomere Dynamics and InMotion Robotic was recognised with the Smart Factory Award at the Robotics and Automation Awards 2024.

And we were also named one of Europe’s top 10 most exciting start-ups by The Europas 100. We were also named as one of Yorkshire’s 50 Most Exciting Companies by Yorkshire Business Insider.

Looking Ahead

Reflecting on 2024 and looking ahead to 2025, Nick Thompson, Co-Founder and CEO of BOW, encapsulated our journey: “2024 was transformative for BOW. Our mission to democratise robotics is gaining momentum, and the recognition, partnerships, and growth we have achieved are a testament to our team’s dedication and innovation. We are excited to continue breaking barriers and making robotics more accessible to industries worldwide in 2025.”
